Seufert Construction Completes Historic Santa Claus Campground Bunkhouse

by Jessica Lindauer | May 30, 2018

May 30 – Seufert Construction recently partnered with the Historic Santa Claus Campground on building a new bunkhouse to be used to house campers while attending the various camps held there annually. The Mission of the non-profit organization is “To provide a safe, comfortable, spiritual facility where those who come can experience the presence of Christ in a real and personal way through recreational activities, study worship, and Christian fellowship.

The campground history began in 1851 with the first camp meeting taking place under the starlit sky and open brushfires.  Over the years a few things have changed, there is no longer an old time camp meeting function, instead the campground has morphed into providing facilities and an beautiful outdoor setting that preserves and perpetuates the Christian religious heritage that begin in 1850’s. Between Memorial Day & Labor Day the campground is 100% occupied by local church, sports, 4-H groups, family reunions, and a variety of other ministries.

The new 5,800 Sq. Ft. bunkhouse was needed to follow the Indiana Dept. of Health’s code which indicated that if the campground was used for children under the age of 16 for over 3 days at a time, there must be at least 30 Sq. Ft of floor space needed per camper. In the other facilities that was not feasible, so plans began to build a new, beautiful place for campers to enjoy. The new building offers 80 bunk beds, two male and two female restrooms with multiple showers, a 500 Sq. Ft. deck overlooking a beautiful view of the lake & property with a patio under for more relaxing spaces for guests. The great room has 21 ft. cathedral ceilings with capacity to hold 80 people as well as the 800 Sq. Ft. loft space.
